Alder Energy and Santee Cooper partnered with Tri-County Electric to complete an installation of a 1.2 Megawatt solar farm near Orangeburg, South Carolina. The ground mounted solar array is located on 5.4 acres at the Interstate 26 and Highway 601 interchange, and is visible from I-26. The installation utilizes 4,482 solar panels to generate an annual production of 2,261 megawatt hours (MWh) of clean renewable energy, enough to power 163 average South Carolina households.

Santee Cooper offers a comprehensive Green Power Program, where the customers can choose cleaner power resources which, when efficiently used, can save money and the environment. This green power is electricity that Santee Cooper generates from renewable resources, like wind, solar and landfill gas.
