Mr. Suds Car Wash boasts 121.245 kilowatts of clean renewable energy
Columbia, SC, October 9, 2018 – Alder Energy Systems LLC, a trusted South Carolina turnkey solar provider, is pleased to announce the completion of five solar installations for the Mr. Suds Car Wash company. The combined installations utilize 315 solar panels which produce over 148,062 kW of clean renewable energy. The annual production will offset between 45 and 100 % of each location’s yearly energy consumption. The renewable energy produced at these locations will reduce the operating costs and provide environmental benefits to the community.
“Our 3 largest operating expenses are chemicals, water and electricity. With solar, we now have virtually eliminated one of these expenses. That, along with the environmental impact, really made this decision easy,” said Tom DeKnight, Mr. Suds Car Wash owner.
The Mr. Suds Car Wash locations are positioned throughout Columbia, and AES installed solar on the following facilities:

To celebrate Mr. Suds Car Wash going solar, Alder Energy and Mr. Suds are sponsoring an event on October 17th from 9am to Noon at 7341 Garners Ferry Road. The event will feature a ribbon cutting ceremony with Columbia’s Mayor Stephen K. Benjamin. Alder Energy Systems will be providing breakfast and coffee, while Mr. Suds will be giving away free “solar” car washes during the event. The free car washes will only be available at the Garners Ferry location.
