Alder Energy recently completed the installation of a roof-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) system for Draexlmaier Automotive of America, boasting a direct current (DC) rating of 1.34 megawatts (MW), equivalent to 1,341 kilowatts (kW), and featuring approximately 2,700 individual solar panels. This system is engineered for high performance through the implementation of SolarEdge string inverters, which are designed to ensure that each solar panel operates at its peak potential, maximizing the system’s overall energy generation. Furthermore, the panel-level optimization plays a crucial role in minimizing the negative effects of common environmental factors such as shading from nearby obstructions and soiling due to dust, dirt, or debris accumulation on the panel surfaces. By addressing these issues at the individual panel level, the system maintains a higher level of efficiency and consistent energy production throughout the day and across varying environmental conditions.
About the Client
Recently recognized for its environmental management system, Draexlmaier Automotive of America LLC, a subsidiary of the Draexlmaier Group, a German entity specializing in premium automotive solutions, operates a manufacturing facility in Duncan. This facility produces high-end vehicle interior systems for luxury automotive brands, notably BMW. In alignment with the increasing prevalence of hybrid and electric vehicles, the adoption of sustainable practices has been the company’s mission. The installation of the commercial solar system to offset a significant portion of the facility’s energy requirements fulfills the company’s sustainability objectives and commitment to clean energy.

About Roof-Mounted Solar Systems
Roof-mounted solar systems are an excellent solution for companies of all sizes looking to incorporate solar energy into their business model. A standard roof-mounted system includes photovoltaic modules, wires, solar inverters, mounting systems, and other accessories. When assessing whether a site is viable for this type of system, several factors are considered, such as the condition and structural integrity of the roof. It’s vital to ensure there is enough space to install each panel properly. Roof-mounted systems are the perfect solution for businesses that don’t have the space for a ground-installed solar system.
